The reservoir will be built next to the existing Lej Alv lake as the Val Schlattain behind this is the largest natural water catchment area. As a result of its location, the reservoir will be filled during the snow-melt period without any need for pumping. The natural filling makes it possible to save 2,000,000 kWh electricity, which equates to an annual 16 per cent reduction in Engadin St. Moritz Mountains’ total power requirement. This electricity must no longer be generated, which sustainably improves the ecological balance sheet of the snow-making facilities on Corviglia.
We will follow the project till october 2015 with our cameras.
